We pack up our North Little Rock Camp Site early this morning... and once every thing has been packed in the transport vehicles and the Relay Drivers are ready, we have our Morning Talking Circle. It's been a good camp here. The Walkers are ready to get back 'on the road'. They have already walked to within @ 30 miles of West Memphis Arkansas... so the plan today is that they will drive to where they stopped walking prior to the Conference... and then walk the 30 miles to our new camp site in West Memphis.

We have some 'work' to do with the transport vehicles and some of the logistics and planning of the Walk.. so it's a couple of hours before we are 'on the road' to meet up with them at the next camp site. As we leave Little Rock it begins to rain and the lightning is close and the thunder loud. Before long we are in a real downpour and I'm wondering how the Walkers are doing ahead of us. When we get to the West Memphis Camp Site we learn that they just finished the 30 miles as the storm caught up with them. It's rained quite a bit at the camp site and there is water standing on the ground all around the camp. We all decide to stay here anyway.. the people who run the Best Holiday Travel Park are generous and really nice... so the decision is made to 'tough it out'. Later that evening.. in the recreation room at this Park we learn that the storm had turned sharply to the north of us just as it reached West Memphis. Tornadoes had been sighted in the storm ... so we gave thanks that we were only on the edge of it and the really heavy rain and the tornadoes had spared us once again.

Since I couldn't be with them today... I am profiling a couple of the Walkers today in their own words. You will find the pictures of these Walkers on today's Journal.

Today's Profile

Larenda Bradley -

I'm originally from Kayenta, Arizona... the Northeastern part of the State. ( Monument Valley Utah). I'm Dine'-Navajo. I now live in Tucson.

Running with the Sacred Hoop is an inspiring experience for me. My reason for this run is I've dedicated my Journey to the Elders. If it wasn't for them... we would not be here. The traditions, songs, and stories have been given to us down thru the years. The Elders are our teachers... leaders... parents... grand-parents. As I run on Mother Earth I'm praying to the Creator for the protection and guidance for the Elders and ask Creator to continue to bless them with inspiration.

I've been blessed with the opportunity to spend this time in my life with my Brothers and Sisters and to make this Journey. The Creator has helped us to have a safe Journey. May we all unite... all races together....... in love, peace, and happiness. The color doesn't matter. It's what's inside the person. Accepting the person is the first step.

We are for UNITY. We are for Hope. We are for Healing. We are for Forgiving the Unforgiveable. It's time to put the hatred and violence away.
