Camping at one site for several days has really agreed with the Walkers and the White Bison Support Staff. Each morning... after the Talking Circle.... the Walkers and the Relay Drivers gather their water bottle markers and put fresh water in the coolers... pack a lunch in another cooler.. and drive back to where they finished walking the prior day. The route from Ft. Smith Arkansas is Highway 64 to Little Rock. And each day they are able to do 40 or more miles on this road.

They come back to the camp site in the evening... have plenty of time to relax and to do laundry or take care of their tents and belongings or write those letters home... maybe use the pay phones to call friends and family... or just sit and enjoy the beauty of Lake Dardanelle. They also return each day with 'stories' of who they met or things they saw while they were walking. A powerful story today was about a young black couple... with a child ... who were standing on the side of the road as they were Walking by. The couple asked what the Walkers were doing. Why were they Walking? We don't just keep walking when this happens. We aren't setting a speed record ... trying to be a blur on the road during this Journey. We're trying to spread a message about Wellbriety and creating a Trail of Hope. So the Walk temporarily halted in order to share this message with the people who wanted to know about us and the Walk. And after the message was shared.. the young father reached into his pocket... and took out all of the money he had ... and handed it to the Walker. "Take this offering" he said "I want to be a part of this... I want to help with what you are trying to accomplish". Thank you.. you gave us much more than a monetary contribution today. It's people like you... along this Journey who keep us inspired and help us to be strong in our committment.

We had a very good afternoon at the camp site. Time for laughing and goofing off and just enjoying one another's company and nature. Gearldean V. Walkabout is an Exercise and Massage Therapist from the Tahlequah, Oklahoma area. She has been with us for a few days.. helping us transport walkers and supplies. And she offered her professional services to the Walkers at the Camp Site. She has a wonderful and healing touch.. and we all appreciate all the hard work you did for us Gearldean... you really 'rub us the right way'!!!

There is a 'friend' of the Walkers... his name is Haske'... he is from Holland... and he is riding a bicycle from Los Angeles to New York. He began about the same time that we began this Journey .. April 2nd. And he has camped with us a few times during the Walk.. since he route coincides with ours much of the time. He isn't trying to be a blur either.. he's not setting a sports record. He has much the same message as do we. "If we walk the talk... we will change the world.. let the healing begin" .. that's what he told me when we first met a few States back. Haske' is also a fine singer and guitar player... that's his music you hear in the background of the video where Mouse is 'blowing bubbles'. Several of the Walkers also have fine voices and strum the guitar a bit... so even though we are without television and radios the majority of the time... we have plenty of entertainment in our camps.

We were blessed with another 'miracle' during the early evening. The Walkers began to notice that the wind was really getting strong.. and dark clouds were moving from the West and toward their camp site on the lake. As the storm was approaching, there were RV's and campers packing up and driving away from the park. The Walkers were waving to them as they rushed away.

As the storm neared our site the kitchen and tents were being prepared for the onslaught. Then we had the 'miracle'. The dark clouds raised high up into the sky... and while there was drizzle and lightning around us... the majority of the storm appeared to 'clear' our little camp. We later learned there had been tornado warnings... and one of the people whom we've met and talked with in Arkansas said that she has a 'home radar screen'.. and that night she watched the screen in worry... because a thunderhead that was the reason for the severe weather warnings was heading directly for Lake Dardanelle... right for our camp site. But as she watched her screen.. she said the storm split in two... and went on either side of the lake.. then ... after passing over the park.. it came back together and continued to produce funnel sightings and hail. No wonder the other campers and the folks in the RV's were scurrying away from the Park. And there we sat... waving at them... from our little camp site of miracles. It is so awesome... the workings of the Great Mystery and the way that this Journey has been blessed by the miracles of Creation. We give thanks to our Higher Power for all of the blessings that are sent to us.
