It's raining every day now. By the time the tents dry out in the afternoon they get soaked again. While the walkers were on highway 73 through Maryville today, I was really proud of myself when I managed to cover all of the campsite stuff, but soon realized I missed the walker's laundry hang on the fence. Marcy has rejoined us from Chicago. She walked with us when we were in New Mexico, and we're glad to have her back. Today is John Whiteshirt's birthday. We had a small circle today, and it just happened that we all spoke to John about our thoughts of him. John mentioned that usually someone has to go on their spirit journey to have people speak of these things. Even for those of us who were telling John how we felt, it was a powerful experience to share our feelings for him on his birthday. It was a beautiful evening, and we were outside enjoying what the Creator had made for us. It seemed so much more meaningful than sitting inside a house watching television -- separated from nature. Maybe this could be the beginning of a new birthday tradition, huh?
