We're having another good day on the Journey of the Sacred Hoop! At least the Walkers are having a good day. It's not been so good for Don Coyhis...our Leader. He had to go to a specialist back in Jackson Tennessee today...and when he asked me to bring his walking stick... I knew his legs and feet must be hurting really badly. He loves being at the camp. On most of the Journey he has been in the camp day and night. I think that is what pains him the most... being away from the Camp.. missing the Talking Circles.. and the fellowship. Hearing about all the 'miles' walked during that day. We miss you too Don!!! We're praying for a quick recovery. Take care of yourself.

I've written a description of what it's like around camp... during breaks on the Walks... or at events where we are all together. I described it as 'trying to herd cats'. There is a good example of 'herding cats' in today's Journal. We wanted to take a 'group picture' of all of us together before we left Mousetail Landing State Park. The picture turned out great. It's posted on Today's Journal. If you check out the first video posted on Today's Journal... you can get an 'idea' of what it's like to 'herd cats'. We were missing a couple of the Havasupai people... so the rest of the group tries their hand at 'herding'. If you look closely at the end of this video you can spot the 2 Havasupai women coming up the road as the group is calling to them "Here kitty... here kitty kitty'. If you know a better way... let us hear from you. :-}

We have made it all the way to Natchez Trace Parkway by the end of today's Walk. WAY TO GO WALKERS!!! So tomorrow morning we will be breaking down the camp and moving to a site closer to Nashville for the Conference planned there this weekend. But the day is not over... after our evening Talking Circle... we share a midnight snack of hotdogs cooked over the fire. Hotdogs on a stick. Yummy... everything tastes great when you are cooking it outside and when you are Walkers!!!! This has been a great base camp site. Thank you to all of the Park Rangers who checked on us frequently during our stay here. You really took care of us. Plenty of firewood... and fellowship! We can highly recommend a visit to Mousetail Landing State Park in Linden, Tennessee!

During our Talking Circle we on the reason that we are out here... the reason we are on this Journey. The Circle helps us to stay strong. The Circle is our greatest Teacher on this Walk for Wellbriety.

In one of the most beautiful and remote corners of the Grand Canyon... in Arizona... our People... Havasuw Baaja - meaning - People of the Blue Green Waters - have lived for many years.. hundreds of years. It is very resourceful, and the People are proud of our beautiful land. Havasu Creek springs from the rocks and runs on top of the ground until it flows into the Colorado River. The beautiful blue-green water cascades over five major waterfalls - Fifty, Navajo, Havasu, Mooney & Beaver Falls.

The wind boasts tall as a waterfall ... and I have imagined many times that it would open out onto some other place and let me walk through - into an aboriginal land.

The Journey of the Sacred Hoop - 2000 - is a strong and powerful message against domestic violence! We Walk for the Wellbriety Movement - Physical, Emotional, Mental, and Spritual Wellness of one's self...one's Spirit.

Going across Turtle Island's heart-breakingly beautiful and striking landscape...I can feel the great accomplishments of the Creator. This land is loaded with vivid historical details...the history comes alive as I walk... and it is interspersed with so many moments of sadness and so much compassion. The impact ...of the 'life' of this land...today's life and the lives of those past... is powerful!!!

Thanks to the Co-Ordinators and ALL of those volunteers who helped them ...From California to Tennessee where we now are...and the People I have met and will meet as we continue Walking toward the East. ...Thank you for your love and compassion... for helping the Journey as best you could...and for helping your own Communities. Thanks to Don Coyhis & Michael and Vette Middleton for their compassion on this Journey. Good job!

To my Family and Relatives back home in Grand Canyon I love you a lot!! Carletta Tilousi and SWAP Members in Albq-NM for their hospitality - Thank you!! I really appreciated all you did... a LOT !! Anyone I'm missing... I didn't forget about you. Constantly I am thinking of you and you will always be in my heart and prayers.

Respectfully,

- Fawn
