How to Use This Website

Please read the following to better understand how to use this website.

At the top of this site is a menu bar with the five buttons. You can use these buttons at any time to access different areas. Below is a quick description of each button:

Clicking this button brings you back to this screen.
Clicking this button will give you an overview of why this website was created.
By clicking this button, you will be able to download the entire Core Measures Initiative Guidlines document that explains the research and creation of the Core Measures Initiative. (See below for instructions on "Downloading Files").
Included in this site are all CSAP's current recommended instruments and measures. This website organizes these instruments by domain and construct. Click on this button to view these measures.
Click this button to take you back to the opening page.

 

Viewing and Selecting Core Measures

Choose a domain by clicking on it. A list of constructs will appear to the right.

Choose a construct by clicking on it. A list of recommended instruments/subscales appears to the right.

Choose an instrument/subscale by clicking on it. You will be taken to a page that contains a description of the instrument/subscale.

If you would like to view the actual scale/item, click on the View Instrument button.

To review the description, click on the View Description button.

Click the Back button to choose a different measure.

Downloading Files

When you are on the View Description or View Instrument pages, you will have an option to Download Description or Download Instrument. Downloading a document enables yo uto open in a a word processing program and edit it as necessary. the downloaded document will be in a rich tex format (it will have an .rtf extension). An RTF file is a formatted text file which can be opened with most word processing or text editing. programs.

Note: Depending on your browser, you may also be able to edit the Description or Instrument by one of the following methods:

  • Click at the beginning of the selected text, drag the cursor to the end of the selected text by holding down the left mouse button, click Edit and Copy, then open your word processing program and click Edit and Paste.
  • Click Edit, Select All, then Edit, Copy. Open your word processing program and click Edit and Paste.

Using these methods may result in some differences in font or formatting. Consult your browser and word processing documentation for further details.

When downloading a file:

You will be prompted to save the file. Depending on your browser, you may see other prompts also. Choosing "Save File" will allow you to have the highest amount of control over how you can work with the file.
